Opanka construction stitches the upper directly to a single-piece sole/base in one continuous looped seam that wraps around the entire perimeter of the shoe, without a separate welt or insole board. It produces an extremely flexible, lightweight, moccasin-like shoe, and is the construction behind most true boat shoes and many casual slip-on styles, trading structure and resoleability for softness and an easy, sock-like fit.
